Woodcuts
The woodcut is a medium that lent itself particularly well to the drama and detail that characterize Glenn Eure’s work. While he often carved, and printed from, smaller blocks (particularly those that enabled him to incorporate natural grain or features of the wood), he loved to work “big” with slabs as large as seven feet long and close to 30 inches wide.
Smaller prints are sometimes pulled on a hand-turned etching press, allowing for embossment. Large prints are created by hand rubbing the inked wood using a wooden spoon.
